Skincare for men

Skincare has no gender, we all need to look after our skin. Men’s skin is different to women’s; it can be around 25% thicker due to the presence of more testosterone, the texture may be tougher due to facial hair and shaving, and it can be oilier. Let us show you a simple, natural skincare routine that will deliver nourishment to your skin and most importantly, keep it healthy!

  1. Invest in a face wash

It can be tempting to throw some water over the face and use a bar of soap to give it a quick clean. But that bar of soap is designed to be used on your body (where skin is thicker) rather than on the face and will dry your skin out. Containing both Fucus serratus & Ascophyllum nodosum seaweed, ishga Exfoliating Face Wash will gently exfoliate and remove dead skin cells to reveal a healthy appearance, while the regenerative effects of the seaweed and other natural skincare ingredients heal and protect skin. Our Face Wash is gentle enough to be used daily and won’t dry the skin out.

  1. Choose a moisturiser that will nourish and balance the skin

Men have more sebaceous glands (oil glands) than women. Sebum is a natural oil produced by the body, it helps to hydrate skin, but if it is over-produced it can lead to clogged pores and acne. Our Balancing Marine Cream has been created to deeply hydrate while calming skin. It contains bergamot oil which is a natural cleanser that helps to unblock pores and balance sebum levels.

  1. Care for skin with or without a beard

Shaving can easily lead to irritation as the metal blade glides over your skin. Whether you prefer a clean-shaven look or a full beard, using a Beard & Shave Oil can deliver vitamins and minerals to your skin and/or beard, restoring its balance. We’ve added luxurious ingredients like jojoba oil, thistle oil and sweet almond oil to soften facial hair, reduce irritation and leave skin silky smooth. Use the oil to allow for a close precise shave or apply directly to the beard as a conditioning treatment.

  1. Use sunscreen

Men’s skin may be around 25% thicker, but it still needs just as much protection. Invest in a good sunscreen with a factor between 30-50 SPF, that will cover both UVA and UVB rays. Remember, you’ll need to reapply it every few hours if you’re outside for long periods, and don’t forget areas like ears, lips, hands and feet. Even on a cloudy day rays still can get through so don’t forget to apply!
